Day 2
Today we slept in and enjoyed the motel. Prilly
forgot her suit so she had to go out and buy a new one. Sounds like a well
planned event to me. This place has an indoor pool and spa and even a workout
room so we can wear off all that razzelberry pie from yesterday. This after noon
we headed down town to do a walking tour. We spent a hour looking for a parking
place and 4 hours walking the tour. Our incentive is if we walk enough we can
go to Outback for dinner.
Someone asked what we were driving... We got an
Outback and it's kind of small.
So far don't care much for it. Everything on it
is backwards. Oh well better than walking.
We will see how it does in the
mountains.
Above is how we find are way around. We are using
Skymap 2000. It tells us more than we want to know like when Prilly is exceeding
the speed limit. The GPS tracks our movement and shows us where we are on the
map as well as our speed and direction and even our elevation. So if you look
above you will see that Prilly is speeding at 72mph and we are heading south and
are at 4232 ft above sea level.
The system is voice activated so you talk to it and
it talks to you. You can ask it what street is this, or how much farther, thats if
you tell it where you are going first.
Ok here comes the city. We are staying about 20
miles north of it.
One thing that jumps out at you about this place is
how flat it is and then all at once the mountains go straight up 12 to 13,000
feet.
The Lake is about 4100 ft above sea level.
Most of you know what this
is and for you that don't, it is the Morman Cathedral.
They tried to conform me
but after talking to me they knew I was a lost soul.
We took the tour, thinking that we could see the inside
of this cathedral, but all they did was show us
around the grounds and tried to sell us their religion.
They did let us inside the building where the choir pratices.
Here's Prilly sneeking out the back
door.
No hope for her either.
Around the buildings there are beautiful flower gardens all in bloom.
With it as cool as it has been here I don't know
how these things flourish so well.
Looking through Eagle Gate up to the capital building.
Erected in 1859 at the entrance to Brigham Young's property,
the eagles wingspread is 20 feet that caps the 76 foot span.
Here I am in front of the capital building.
If Bill Clinton can get in, there must be hope for me.
Looking back at Eagle Gate from the capital.
This city skyline has a pretty
backdrop.
This traffic looks like home. Who invited all these
people anyway?
As we leave Salt Lake City, this, like so many cities are too big
and too crowded for country folk like us. It took forever to find
a place to park and then cost us an arm and leg.
Well tomorrow we head out towards Jackson Hole
Wyoming. Hope all is well back there good to hear from you all that wrote.
See Ya Tomorow.......
Love Prilly & Ralph
